What Is IBCO About?
IBCO offers direct access to professional negotiators on staff, ready to help your local negotiate the best contract possible. Once your contract is ratified, you can expect continued support from your national representative who will help resolve any job-related issues that may arise.
The Committee on Political Education (COPE) is a voluntary political action fund that supports IBCO's political agenda. From financing pro-union candidates to supporting grassroots lobbying efforts, your COPE dollars promote legislation that protects your workplace rights.
IBCO has a powerful voice in Washington, D.C. Our dedicated legislative team works full-time to safeguard the jobs and bargaining rights of our law enforcement professionals. IBCO has been able to shape legislative policy, which directly benefit our members, because of our effective lobbying efforts in our nation's capital.
IBCO employs more labor attorneys per member than any other union in the country. We provide legal services to our members on all work-related issues, including arbitration hearings, disciplinary hearings and civil rights lawsuits.
Each IBCO local has complete autonomy, but benefits from unlimited access to knowledgeable IBCO representatives. They are skilled experts in collective bargaining, dispute resolution procedures, interpreting your contract and have full knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the National Labor Relations Act and the Federal Labor Relations Act.
